François Apéry, The collection of mathematical models in the Henri Poincaré Institute

4 października 2019

It was during the 1870s that the collection was acquired by the Sorbonne and presented in the Cabinet de mathématiques organized by Gaston Darboux. It was regularly enriched until the first world war and then was gradually ignored until its transfer to the newly founded Henri Poincaré Institute in 1928. After having known various situations including the interest of surrealists, it is now revived thanks in particular to 3D printing. Today it has over 600 pieces.
